1. Summary
This
product bulletin announces the availability of new ReplicatorX offerings,
resulting from a segmentation of the single, existing ReplicatorX offering.
ReplicatorX was formerly named TDPS (Topio). ReplicatorX
provides enterprise-class, heterogeneous replication software that is
targeted for three plays: heterogeneous disaster recovery, data cloning (for
example, dev/test), and data migration. ReplicatorX supports replication of
all block storage architectures, including FC-SAN, IP-SAN/iSCSI, DAS, and
internal and system drives, allowing NetApp to promote these solutions to
customers with any vendor’s production storage, greatly increasing the total
available market for NetApp tiered storage.
ReplicatorX is fully
supported in non-NetApp storage configurations, delivering on the vision of a
truly independent, “any-to-any” solution. However, if the target storage
device is a NetApp SAN or IP-SAN/iSCSI product, customers can take advantage
of ReplicatorX integration with Data ONTAP®, providing a single point of management
for replication and NetApp cloning, including: ·
Cloning of LUNs residing on traditional
volumes ·
Cloning of LUNs residing on flexible volumes (FlexVol®
volumes) ·
Cloning of entire FlexVol volumes (FlexClone® volumes) 2. What’s
New Until this release, a
single ReplicatorX part number was used to quote all use cases. This bulletin
announces the segmentation of this single offering into five distinct
offerings, each with a tailored pricing and licensing model: ·
·
ReplicatorX DR Standard ·
ReplicatorX Cloning ·
ReplicatorX Migration ·
ReplicatorX Service Provider 2. ReplicatorX DR Standard is
a new offering that targets mid-range customers with higher price
sensitivity, and that is based on a feature-limited version of the product.
Specifically, DR Standard does not
support the following ReplicatorX capabilities: ·
Advanced Consistency Groups (CG),
including o
Cross-server CGs (CGs within a single
server are supported) o
Quotas or “Quality of Service” for CGs ·
Advanced Management, including o
Resource-based access control Note: Role-based access control is supported. o
Control of multiple ReplicatorX
management servers from a single GUI The DR Standard offering
uses the same licensing model as DR Enterprise – perpetual license, per TB.
This offering is available to end users only; service providers are
prohibited from using this offering in the terms of the License Agreement. 3. ReplicatorX Cloning is
a new offering that is a feature-limited version of the product.
Specifically, Cloning does not support
failover and failback, and therefore cannot be used for disaster recovery or
business continuity purposes. The Cloning offering uses the same licensing
model as DR Standard and DR Enterprise – perpetual license, per TB. This
offering is available to end users only; service providers are prohibited
from using this offering in the terms of the License Agreement. 4. ReplicatorX Migration is
a new offering, that is a feature-limited version of the product designed for
customers who want “do it yourself” migration; that is, they want to lease or
rent a product and perform the migration themselves, rather than purchase the
NGS SAN Data Migration service (which ReplicatorX is also a part of). The
Migration offering does not
support failover and failback, and
therefore cannot be used for disaster recovery or business continuity
purposes. The Migration offering uses a new licensing model – time-based
license, unlimited capacity – orderable by the week (7 calendar days) or by
the month (30 calendar days). This offering is available to both end users
and service providers. 5. ReplicatorX Service Provider is
a new offering, designed for customers who want to use ReplicatorX as the
basis for a service offering to third-party end users, generally for disaster
recovery or business continuity. The Service Provider offering has no feature
limitations. This offering uses a new licensing model – time-based license,
per TB, with durations of 12, 18, 24, 30, 36, 42, 48, 54, or 60 months (1
month = 30 calendar days). 3.

Customer-Ready Tools (Customer Presentations,
Datasheets) Refer to the NOW™ (NetApp on the Web) site for the ReplicatorX
Interoperability Guide, Documentation,
and Release Notes for details regarding supported platforms, configurations
requirements, limitations, and other important information. Please
note that the following are available only via Feature PVR: ·
All Linux® configurations ·
All fabric-based (Cisco MDS) replication configurations ReplicatorX is licensed based on usage (TB),
time, or a combination of the two, depending on the offering being
purchased. All offerings with a usage
component have a volume price break (VPB) that starts at 11TB and ends at
51TB.
Software Subscription Plan (SSP) NetApp highly recommends that customers purchase
an SSP for ReplicatorX. This will entitle them to NetApp customer support and
future releases of ReplicatorX. The
following table lists the SSP part numbers as of the date of this product
bulletin. Partners should contact their channel representative for pricing
information.
Professional Services (PS) NetApp highly recommends that new customers
purchase the ReplicatorX Essentials Service, which is a fixed-scope, fixed-priced offering designed to provide
basic knowledge transfer and first-time setup and configuration assistance.
For complete deployment or other ReplicatorX services, customers should
purchase the ReplicatorX Custom Service, which is based on a custom Statement
Of Work (SOW). The
following table lists the PS part numbers as of the date of this product
bulletin. Partners should contact their channel representative for pricing
information.
